Our Board
The Heart Foundation Board determines strategy, while management is responsible for ensuring our strategy is effectively implemented.
The role of the Board is to provide strategic oversight and direction for the Heart Foundation’s activities and ensure that those organisational activities are directed towards achieving its vision of an Australia free of heart disease and its mission to prevent heart disease and improve the heart health and quality of life of all Australians through our work in prevention, support and care and research. The Board ensure that the vision and mission are achieved in the most efficient and effective way.

Mr Mario D’Orazio (Chair)
Mario D’Orazio has more than 40 years’ experience in media as a journalist, including print as a reporter and columnist, radio as a producer and talkback presenter, and TV as a reporter, presenter and executive producer of news, current affairs programs and lifestyle programs. Read more.

Rodney Boys is a highly experienced senior executive and company director with more than 30 years’ leadership across large‑scale enterprises and currently chairs the Heart Foundation’s Risk, Audit and Governance Committee. Read more.

Professor Clara Chow
Professor Clara Chow is a Cardiologist at Westmead hospital and Professor of Medicine at the University of Sydney with a leading research focus on cardiovascular disease prevention and expertise in digital health interventions development. Read more.

Associate Professor David Colquhoun
Associate Professor David Colquhoun is a cardiologist in private practice. He is also actively involved in research and preventative cardiology; these activities are reflected in his role on the Heart Foundation’s Heart Health and Research Committees. Read more.
Associate Professor Nicholas Cox
Associate Professor Nicholas Cox is an interventional cardiologist with an interest in infarct angioplasty and cardiogenic shock. He is currently the Head of Cardiology at Western Health Melbourne, and has championed the establishment of pivotal cardiology units and services in Victoria. Read more.
Ms Isabelle Demir
Isabelle Demir has more than 20 years, experience in infrastructure investments and advisory across Australasia, Europe and the Middle East. She is Chair of the Heart Foundation’s Investment Committee. Read more.

Ian Humphreys is a former partner in Ashurst's Brisbane office. He specialises in employment, energy and resources, occupational health and safety, workplace relations and workplace training. Read more.
Professor Ray Mahoney
Professor Ray Mahoney is a Bidjara man with family ties to Central West Queensland and Research Director, Indigenous Science and Engagement at CSIRO. He co‑designs cardiovascular disease and prevention research with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander organisation partners. Read more.
Ms Rowena Newman
Rowena Newman is a senior executive leader with more than 25 years’ experience across global healthcare and corporate sectors. She is a passionate Heart Foundation advocate who credits cardiac rehabilitation with her recovery following a sudden cardiac arrest. Read more.
